World Mental Health Day 2020

Saturday 10th October is this year's World Mental Health Day! To mark the occasion we will be taking over the @NUTHPsychology Twitter feed and posting regularly about ways you can support your mental wellbeing.

If Twitter isn't your thing, that's okay! We have also put together a list of some of the resources available, nationally and within the Newcastle area, for further support.

The theme of Mental Health Day this year is ‘mental health for all’ and as a team we have decided to focus on the topic of ‘loneliness’ as this is something which all of us may struggle with at certain points in our lives – particularly in these current times.

Social connection and reaching out to others is so important for maintaining our mental wellbeing, and this remains the case now more than ever. Although we may not be able to physically reach out to friends and family at the moment, there are other ways that we can receive support and maintain those vital social connections.

The team at Talking Helps Newcastle have therefore put together a list of resources (Wellbeing Links) that you can access for support – both during World Mental Health Day and beyond. These range from virtual meet-ups and classes, to educational videos and helpful apps.

We’d love for you to give at least one of these a try this World Mental Health Day and help us to tackle loneliness together!
