Important Notice: Talking Helps Newcastle response to COVID-19 (coronavirus).

Please read before contacting us.
With effect from 19th March 2020.

Talking Helps Newcastle are working hard to follow government and NHS guidelines aimed at preventing the spread of COVID-19 as far as possible. This means that we are not able to offer face-to-face appointments or group treatments. We will continue to offer telephone appointments.

We understand this may be frustrating and not what you expected. We are doing this to help contain the further spread of COVID-19.  It will also help us to safeguard the vulnerable populations we work with.  We expect the situation to remain the same for a while, potentially 2-3 months.

For up to date information about Covid-19 we recommend that you contact the following sources:

As of Thursday 19th March 2020, we have introduced the following measures:

Assessments

  • If you are waiting for an initial assessment, you will be contacted by a member of our team. This contact may be by telephone, text or letter.
  • We currently have a longer than usual wait for assessments and this is due to staffing pressures.

Individual therapy

  • Where possible, we are continuing to provide therapy through telephone appointments and using digital resources. We will not be offering face to face sessions.
  • You will be contacted by your therapist or a member of our team, to discuss your treatment and arrangements for future appointments. This contact will be by telephone, text or letter.

Groups and classes

  • We have cancelled all groups and classes with immediate effect.
  • If you have been attending a group or class, you will be contacted by a member of our team to discuss your treatment and options. This contact will be by telephone, text or letter.

We will keep this website up to date with the latest information about our service. You can also find good links to helpful resources, websites, apps and organisations in our resources section.

Please be patient with us because we have a large number of people to talk to, but if you have not heard from us by 31 March 2020 please call us on 0191 2826600, email us on tnu-tr.PCMH@nhs.net or contact us here.
